Reed Hogan, a freshman and new addition to Texas Rugby, was invited to attend the U20 All American Camp due to his performance over the fall season in 7s. Hogan has played for the past seven years. He attended St. Thomas High School, where his team won three Division I state championships during his time. He co-captained the team in 2013, one of the years they won state. He earned a place on the Texas Select team in 2011, 2012, and 2013. He played as blindside flanker during the 2011 and 2012 seasons and 8-Man during the 2013 season, when he was named the 2013 Forward of the Year of the Texas High School Rugby Conference.
Hogan began playing at The University of Texas at Austin in Fall 2013. He immediately became a key factor in Texas Rugby’s 7s team. During his short time with the team, the team won the Southwest Conference 7s Championship and competed in the 2013 USA Rugby College 7s National Championship, where Texas Rugby finished #12 in the nation. Hogan will be heading with Texas Rugby in January 2014 to compete in the USA Sevens Rugby Tournament in Las Vegas.
The U-20 All American Camp gives exceptional players like Hogan a chance to make the United States National U-20 team. The U-20 competes worldwide against national teams across all continents. This is a tremendous opportunity for both Hogan and Texas Rugby. Hogan is the fourth U-20 camp invitee from Texas Rugby in just the past three years. This is an amazing accomplishment and we are hopeful in Hogan’s chances of becoming one of the best U-20 players in the world.
